Eric Portier, new président of the Biopôle Clermont-Limagne Unrestricted Public Sector Association.

The members of the Unrestricted Public Sector Association SMO Biopôle Clermont-Limagne, meeting on Thursday 12 September, unanimously elected Eric Portier as their new President. He succeeds Bernard Villata, who has been the head of SMO since June 2016.

Eric Portier is a businessman. Managing multiple companies in the automobile distribution and tourist accommodation, he quickly wanted to get involved in the economic life of his territory.
He therefore chooses to engage in the consular field. Judge at the Commercial Court for a dozen years, he then joined the CCI of Puy de Dôme Clermont Auvergne Métropole. His investment in many commissions gives him a perfect knowledge of the territorial economic fabric. At the same time, he supports project leaders within Réseau Entreprendre.

Motivated by the support of entrepreneurs in the service of economic development, it is very natural that he joins SMO Biopôle Clermont-Limagne, still under the title of the CCI of Puy de Dôme Clermont Auvergne Métropole, becoming in 2023 deputy elected President. This new commitment is an opportunity for him to take ownership of the project that he appreciates for its structuring character at a local level, the innovation and diversity of its companies, but also for the alliance of private and public initiatives present within the Syndicate.

By becoming the first representative of SMO Biopôle Clermont-Limagne on Thursday, Eric Portier has already set the guidelines for his new mandate with projects including energy renovation of the building stock, the animation of the Health/Plant sector or the development of a Totem building dedicated to the federation of local stakeholders in the field of life sciences. He will be able to count on the support of the elected representatives and the commitment of the union team, now led by Christine Merle, the new director of SMO, to carry out this ambitious program.
